  • More international tourists arrived in Brazil in the first half of 2026, driven by growth in air travel. Arrivals through airports rose 13.3% to 3,531,233 visitors, the highest figure ever recorded for the period. Air travel accounted for 67% of all international arrivals received by the country between January and June. The data were released by Visit Brasil/Embratur, the Ministry of Tourism and the Federal Police. Across all ports of entry, Brazil recorded 5,261,733 international tourists in the first six months of the year, the second-highest result on record for the period. In June, the country registered 442,048 arrivals. Airports alone received 360,496 visitors, up 1% from the same month in 2025.

  • From 26 October, Air New Zealand will operate three return services a week to WSI, becoming the airport’s inaugural international airline and giving customers a second Sydney option alongside its existing services to Sydney Kingsford Smith. The new route will operate Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week using the airline’s A320 and A321 aircraft. Flights will depart Auckland at 6.00am, arriving at WSI at 7.45am. The return service will depart WSI at 8.55am, arriving back in Auckland at 2.10pm.

Safety becomes far less of a concern when you travel with a group like ours. When traveling completely solo it is more of an issue. The biggest concern is walking alone at night. In some cities I feel totally comfortable doing it and in others I don’t. There isn’t much the travel industry can do about that.
