In what it says is the group’s “most radical transformation to date”, Travelodge is set to roll out its new “budget-luxe” design across its UK portfolio.

The redesign includes a new “timeless classic style” reception and a contemporary Bar Cafe concept featuring counter seating with built-in USB and laptop power, as well as dining zones offering “intimate booths” and dining benches for groups.

Bedrooms have been redesigned with a new signature navy blue colour and feature king-sized beds, USB charging points, artwork above the beds, a desk chair and “cosy statement armchair”, Travelodge jargon for “it’s comfortable”.

A total of 60 hotels will take on the new design this year, with work set to be completed on properties in Southampton, Southwark, Thame, Vauxhall and Wembley this month.

Travelodge entered into voluntary insolvency proceedings in 2020 shortly after the onset of Covid-19, which included a break clause for landlords wishing to change brands. It currently operates 593 hotels in the UK, Ireland and Spain, slightly more than prior to the pandemic.
