Following last week’s British airport passenger figures for March the CAA has now come up with the numbers for the airlines.  They are not complete and fail to include Eastern, easyJet, Jet2 and Loganair.  These will be added to this article and highlighted for the 1 June issue.

When the throughput for April is published, about this time in June, we will begin to see the real damage to the country’s economy, but hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Overall the 21 holders of Air Operator Certificates (AOC) carried 2.46m passengers at a load factor of 55.3%.  This does include some small specialised operators including BAe Systems on what are essentially private flights and the RAF Airtanker service, the only way to fly direct from the UK to The Falklands.

During the same month last year the total numbers were 14.931m at 71.6%.
