Oslo-based Norse Atlantic Airways has received an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority.

It marks an "important step closer to launching" the new airline said as it remains on track to start transatlantic flights in 2022.

“We would like to thank Norway’s Civil Aviation Authority for a constructive and professional process. We are closer to launching flights between Europe and the US in the spring next year,” said CEO and founder Bjorn Tore Larsen.

It plans a fleet of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners that will serve major cities including New York, Florida, Paris, London and Oslo.

Last autumn the embryo airline announced a collaboration with British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA). (See BTN 27 September 2021 Norse Atlantic Airways make more progress.)
