With so many exotic cars at last week’s Blenheim Palace Salon Privé annual concours, the really big news was most unexpected.

In 2022 the event will be joined at a unique London destination, the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the Chelsea Flower Show.  It will run for just three days Thursday 21 April to Saturday 23 April, and promises to be an alluring experience, the Royal Borough already the home of numerous street worthy glamorous motor cars.  In announcing the show David Bagley, who together with brother Andrew, founded Salon Privé in 2006, said that the two occasions would ‘bookend’ the luxury car display season.

The hallowed turf of the Blenheim Palace cricket pitch swapped leather and willow for some of the most coveted machinery ever built, via the introduction of a brand-new feature for 2021, the Red Collection.  At the centre of the 12-car display was a sensational Ferrari 250 GTO. Chassis 4399 GT – raced in period by the famous Maranello Concessionaires team – surrounded by cars covering more than 80 years of automotive history, including the 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza Spider Zagato that won Best of Show in last year’s Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance.

BTN will run a full review next week, the second Monday of the month, and as always the special motoring edition.
