With UK residents still not able to easily enter the USA, JetBlue is reviewing its new flight schedule from New York JFK to Heathrow.

Whilst Americans are now able to come to Europe, and the airline well known, originating passenger numbers should look good.  In the other direction the challenge is more daunting, JetBlue unfamiliar to most, and the prospect of seven hours in a single aisle aircraft different!  The domestic cabin service is highly acclaimed.  Good passenger reaction for the transatlantic operation will be critical for its success.

JetBlue will launch its London route on schedule with the first eastbound flight operating on 11 August with the return from London to New York JFK on 12 August. Fares during the first week start from £536 return, as against BA’s cheapest return the following week £678.

According to the JetBlue website initially there will be four flights a week rather than daily.  This is likely to change sometime in September, also as more Airbus A321LR aircraft are delivered.

One of the reasons for the cuts is the restrictions on travel. In New York, Jetblue’s CEO Robin Hayes, a Brit, told American industry publication Skift: “We’re disappointed over the continued restrictions on travel between the US and the UK.”
