A youngster from Ibstone, in Buckinghamshire, has set a new world record for a solo trip around the world.

Travis Ludlow, aged 18 and 149 days completed the 24,450 flight in a Cessna 172R after some pretty scary moments, including being caught in a downdraft in Montana, and nearly running out of fuel on the Chinese/Russian border.  The highlight of the trip was making an ‘approved’ Statute of Liberty circumnavigation.

The world flight is not the first record Ludlow has taken.  He became Britain’s youngest glider pilot at 14 and gained his Private Pilot Licence as soon as he could at 17.

Due to Covid and weather-related influences, Ludlow had to change his route almost every day, which saw him travel eastwards across the world.
