Newquay Cornwall Airport has welcomed a limited British Airways service from Heathrow this summer but it stops at the end of the season according to the airline.

What happens with the London route through the winter remains in the hands of the local County Council, vested in its provision by the Department for Transport.  According to local interests what is required is at least a three times daily service to Heathrow (four times in the past) with either an Embraer jet or ATR/Q400 turboprop.  Frequency and timings are a must. Several of the smaller British airlines have shown an interest but whether it is still a Public Service Obligation (PSO) is not known.

On the domestic front BA is expected this week to serve from Heathrow the following UK regional airports – check on BA website for your flight.

Aberdeen (5 x daily)
Belfast City (5 x daily including Aer Lingus + 3 London City)
Edinburgh (6 x daily + 3 London City)
Glasgow (3 x daily + 2 London City)
Inverness (daily)
Manchester (3 x daily)
Newcastle (2 x daily)

The other domestic links to and from the UK’s major international airport are Loganair from the Isle of Man (daily) and Teesside (2 x daily). Both of these BA codeshare routes go into T2 rather than T5.

The British Airways CityFlyer (BACF) franchise also operates BA routes from London City Airport and regional airports at the present time including Aberdeen, Belfast City, Newquay and Southampton.

“Due to the continuing situation we are currently operating a skeleton service, with most of the press office team working reduced hours on flexi furlough.

As a result, we will do our best to respond to your enquiry in a timely manner, but unfortunately it won’t be possible to respond to all enquiries received. In addition, this inbox will not be monitored outside of office hours (9 to 5).

We appreciate your understanding while we work as a reduced team”.
