New York based JetBlue has released fare details of its forthcoming flights to both Gatwick and Heathrow.

They appear to be very competitive.

With Gatwick they are the only airline on the route but Heathrow is served by American Airlines, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic from JFK, plus United Airlines from Newark.

Seats on both routes are now on sale with outbound fares for UK-based travellers starting at £329 for ‘Core’ (Economy) and £999 for Mint (Business Class).

The inaugural for Heathrow is on 11 August and Gatwick 29 September.  As of yesterday the cheapest British Airways flight for the start date is £1728 and Virgin Atlantic £1522.

By the time of the maiden flight JetBlue would have taken delivery of three long-range single aisle Airbus A321 aircraft with aisle access Mint seats. These feature new extra-large overhead bins, and all customers regardless of fare type will be allowed to bring one carry-on, space permitting, and one personal item.
