Opening shortly is the Kempinski Palace Engelberg (Switzerland), a beautiful Belle Epoque-era historic property that has been meticulously reinterpreted for the next generation.

It all started back in 1889, Engelberg, in a fantastic location for summer and winter tourists was connected to the railway network.  In 1904 the Grand Hotel Winterhaus opened becoming the Hotel Europäischer Hof in 1955. In 2016, the property was bought by a new investor with the aim to completely redesign and renovate the existing historical building and add seamlessly a substantial extension with the luxury Kempinski brand as the project leader.

From the grand entrance hall, the historic features and proportions have been sympathetically preserved. Hidden treasures from the past are revived – mosaics and marbles, hexagonal motifs, niches in the bedrooms, and the authentic roaring fire one hopes for in the mountains.

Kempinski Palace Engelberg is the first international 5-star superior hotel in the largest winter and summer holiday destination in Central Switzerland and is being promoted as a haven for all seasons. On the top floor, ‘Kempinski The Spa’ offers an infinity pool with spacious lounging areas, a relaxation room with an open Himalayan salt-stone fireplace and carefully selected treatments providing the perfect place to unwind.

The team of the Kempinski Palace Engelberg is also responsible for the management of the lakeside sister hotel Frutt Mountain Resort in Melchsee-Frutt, 25 miles away across the mountains.
