With holidays in the UK likely to boom this summer Premier Inn, the upmarket budget hotel group owned by Whitbread Plc, is introducing new properties.

This comes after a realignment by hotel operators with certain investments changing their franchises.

A new 100-bedroom Premier Inn on the seafront at Sandown on the Isle of Wight has already opened with new Premier Inn hotels at Scarborough, Bournemouth, Blackpool and Thurso being phased in during the spring and early summer.

Outside of the UK, Whitbread’s expansion plans are focused on Germany and Ireland. Whitbread has an open and committed pipeline of 12,000 hotel rooms across 68 hotels in Germany, with a line of sight to around 60,000 rooms, as it works to grow Premier Inn into the number one budget hotel operator in the country.

Premier Inn has set up a dedicated webpage on how it is responding to government coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions across the UK, Ireland and Germany.  It operates 800 properties in the UK alone and has now set up a dedicated website aimed mainly at business travel customers listing some 38 hotels mainly in city centres.
