Keeping up to date with quarantine rules is proving to be extremely difficult with Turkey, a popular inexpensive holiday destination, the latest country added to an expanded isolation list.  (See travel guidelines – it may have changed!)

However on the plus side Poland is now OK together with Germany, Italy, Gibraltar mainland Greece, San Marino and Sweden OK.  Spain and its islands are still taboo but the Portuguese Azores and Madeira have been cleared.

As of this week, it is a legal duty for anyone returning to the UK to mandatory isolate for 14 days, with fines rising to £10,000 for repeat offenders.

Airlines and tour operators were quickly up in arms, ABTA describing the Turkey move “as a massive blow for the travel industry.”

"This coupled with popular winter-sun destinations, like the Canary Islands, still on the quarantine list only piles the pressure on a struggling sector."
