Air travellers returning to Berlin from high risk pandemic areas can now volunteer for testing at Tegel and Schoenfeld airports.

Experts from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, one of Europe’s largest University hospitals are offering the scheme in collaboration with the airport operating company, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, on behalf of the Senate Chancellery for Higher Education and Research.

“The tests at both airports are another component of Berlin’s testing strategy,” says Prof Dr Ulrich Frei, Chief Medical Officer at Charité.

According to Berlin’s Health Minister, Dilek Kalayci, the tests are non-mandatory, and the state would cover the costs in all cases.
