Unlike its fellow Gulf State airline Qatar Airways (see in this week's BTN), Emirates is putting its Airbus A380s back into service.

At the outbreak of the pandemic Emirates fleet consisted of 114 A380s with eight still to be delivered. What little flying it has operated over the last three months has taken place with its fleet of 141 Boeing 777s.

Last Wednesday (15 July) the flagship aircraft returned with EK001 from Dubai International Airport to Heathrow carrying commercial passengers for the first time since March.

Emirates has also deployed the iconic aircraft on its daily Amsterdam service, and will add a second daily A380 flight to  Heathrow starting from 1 August.  It has restarted scheduled passenger services to ten more cities – Athens, Barcelona, Brussels, Geneva, Glasgow, Larnaca, Malé, Munich, Rome and Washington DC.

Premium customers can still enjoy Emirates' Chauffeur Drive service and relax in its Lounge facility at Dubai International airport, with the restart of these signature services after a full health and safety review. Emirates has also re-opened its dedicated Emirates Skywards counters at Dubai International Airport to serve its frequent flyers.
