Airbus cancelled the development of the A380-800(F) without ever having built a single aircraft.

In these unusual times ACMI/charter specialist Hi Fly's Malta subsidiary has converted its sole A380-800 into a makeshift freighter as a part of Covid-19 strategic changes.

Following the cabin modification carried out by Lufthansa Technik, the aircraft can carry nearly 60 tonnes of cargo spread across its belly hold, on around one-third of its main deck, and around two-thirds of its upper deck.  Even the overhead lockers have been brought into use.  In total the aircraft offers 320sq m of useable cargo space.

Hi Fly Malta has however retained all its 12 First Class seats and 60 Business Class seats on the A380.  Some Economy seats are also available.

Hi Fly's A380 is the world's only A380 transferred to a new operator via the second-hand market.   The aircraft, named “fly the Coral Reefs” is now nearly 14 years old and was previously with Singapore Airlines.
