The Elizabeth Line will now stop at Bond Street station in Oxford Street, about half-way between John Lewis and Selfridges.

Monday 24 October is the start date.  The even better news is that from Sunday 6 November through trains will run from Reading and Heathrow to Abbey Wood and also Shenfield via central London as a seven-day service, giving the West End a huge boost.  If also affords a connection with the Central Line and Jubilee.

More than 45 million journeys have been made across the whole line, since the railway opened in May this year.  Around half of those (22 million journeys) were carried out in the central section between Paddington and Abbey Wood, and Thursday 22 September, during the Queen’s lying in State, around 276,000 journeys completed the central section, the highest daily number to date.

The missing link with the Elizabeth Line is a connection with the DLR.  Whilst Canary Wharf boasts both rail systems the stations are getting on for ten-minute walk apart, and Poplar DLR is an alternative stroll, much the same time.  Provision has been made for a bridge which would shorten the link considerably, but no progress has been made to date.  Services from that station go direct to ExCeL London, and alternatively to London City Airport.
