With the curtailment of the Air New Zealand flights from London to Auckland via Las Angeles abandoned before the pandemic the airline is now suggesting connecting via the United States using Star Alliance partners and alternative airlines.

Air New Zealand now serves seven destinations in North America – Chicago (from 31 October), Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver and now John F. Kennedy International Airport New York.

The inaugural 17.5hr flight took place Saturday 17 September, the timetable somewhat confusing due to the time difference, the aircraft taking off 19:40 and arriving 19:55 the same day (all times local).

A Boeing 787-9 is used for the three times per week service.  Business Premier, Premium Economy and Economy classes are offered.
