Low-cost start-up airline Norse Atlantic Airways (Norse) has confirmed a start date for its Gatwick – New York/Kennedy service.

Friday 12 August will see the maiden flight to the US operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Entry return fares start at £255, including taxes but no baggage.

Daily services are set to depart Gatwick at 13:00 arriving New York/Kennedy at 15:55.  The return leaves at 17:55, arriving Gatwick at 06:20 the next day. (All times local)

Norse has sought to fill the gap left by Norwegian Air’s decision to exit the low-cost transatlantic market owing to the pandemic. Norwegian announced in January 2021 its long-haul operations were "no longer viable".

Norse will offer two cabins, Economy and Premium, and three fares – Light, Classic and Plus, the former being its no frills budget option and the latter including maximum baggage allowance, two meal services, and enhanced airport and onboard experience plus greater ticket flexibility.

It will also, from August and for the rest of the summer season, offer daily Gatwick – Oslo flights, also operated by its Dreamliner aircraft. Norse said the service will allow UK customers to connect with its Oslo routes to Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles and Orlando.
